The heart of ADDCO's business is traffic control equipment. ADDCO engineer and manufacture high performance portable and permanent dynamic message signs that offer you a great ROI.
TRAFFIC CONTROL
The Brick
The BRICK® is the building block of the Addco dynamic message signs. It can be arranged vertically or horizontally in any quantity to suit your application. The exact size and density sign needed for your project can be built.
BRICK® signs have consistently scored superior in field tests for visibility and legibility. The modular nature of the BRICK® lends itself to scores of applications such as:
Traveler Information
Mobile ITS
Toll plazas
Entrance ramps
Transit
Homeland Security
Evacuation
Border Crossing
Parking
Special Events
Each BRICK® is sealed to protect it from dust and road grime. Being shielded from the elements increases the life of the display and your return on investment. BRICK® signs are easy to maintain. Interchangeable modules can be tested and replaced quickly to keep maintenance costs low.
Portable
PCMS, portable changeable message signs, can be mounted on trailers or trucks for total message center flexibility. They can follow construction crews as they work or be repositioned in anticipation of changing traffic conditions.
Precise engineering and years of field experience have produced a line of PCMS that are easy to use and maintain. Each of the trailer-mounted PCMS plays a unique role in traffic control applications. However, it is their shared features that make them durable and cost-effective to operate:
Solar Tilt And Rotate® (S.T.A.R.): ADDCO's patented S.T.A.R.® system lets solar panels rotate 360 degrees and tilt from 0 to 35 degrees. This maximizes exposure to the sun and minimizes the cost of operation.
Heavy-duty frame, sealed battery boxes ensure a long life (higher return on investment), easy access and vandal protection (lower operating costs).
Narrow width and light tongue weight allow greater maneuverability in tight spots such as on the shoulders of arterial roads.
Powder coating gives 70% greater durability than wet paint and prolongs equipment life.
Permanent
Permanently installed BRICK® signs are easy to operate and maintain. Their low cost of ownership has made them a preferred choice for traveler information displays, toll plazas, High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes, variable speed limits, incident management and emergency evacuations.
The Addco permanent signs are lightweight. Each BRICK® is a sealed module impervious to dirt, moisture and road grime. BRICK® signs don't require a cabinet to control the environment in which they operate. In addition, the Addco BRICK TRACKTM system can be used to move the sign away from traffic and over to the shoulder. This eliminates the need for lane closures and the dangerous situation of maintenance personnel working over live traffic.
The complete line of permanent dynamic message signs includes:
Roadside
Overhead
Variable Speed Limit
Driver Feedback
The Addco signs can be fully NTCIP compliant. They can stand alone or be integrated into an existing traffic management operation system. The modular nature of the BRICK® signs makes maintenance simple. Removal and installation can be completed in minutes.
Overhead and Roadside
Roadside
Studies have shown that roadside dynamic message signs are one of the best tools for improving safety during fog, rain, blizzard or blowing dust conditions.
The Addco roadside BRICK® signs are lightweight, highly visible and can be used for multiple purposes.
Standard uses:
Travel time
Delay time
Motorist advisory
Incident management
AMBER Alert
Special uses include:
Emergency evacuation
Contraflow notification
Overhead
Overhead dynamic message signs can be mounted on bridge faces, new or existing sign structures or the sides of buildings. But unlike any other message sign, BRICK® signs can be moved to the side of the road using BRICK TRAKTM.
BRICK® signs are lightweight and don't require bulky cabinets to protect them. They require little maintenance and have a low overall cost of ownership. Overhead signs are available in a full-matrix, line-matrix or character-matrix configurations.
